Discover Why The Mens Thong Isn’t As New As We Think And Why You Should Be Wearing One
Posted: Author: Underwear Queen Topics: Brands
If anyone said to you five or ten years ago that one of the hottest styles in mens underwear, whether you’re straight, gay, old or young was going to be the mens thong, you’d probably have thought they were talking rubbish. A thin piece of fabric between your butt cheeks and a band around your hips was never going to take the place of the far more conservative brief or boxer was it…
How wrong we all were..
The History Of the Mens Thong
The growing popularity of the mens thong over the last few years may have you thinking that this rather revealing style of underwear is a relatively new one.
The reality though is quite the opposite. Wapedia, for example, believe the mens thong to be one of the earliest form of clothing, having first originated in the sweltering climates of sub-Saharan Africa where the first records of clothes are 75,000 years ago. And it’s not just been the African continent that’s been wearing the mens thong for years – the Japanese Fundoshi (pictured below) also has many similarities to the thong and is at least 2000 years old.
Why Would You Choose To Wear A Mens Thong?
Many men who’ve never worn a mens thong look at this strange style of underwear, with it’s thin strip of underwear between the legs that attaches a band around the hips, and can only see something that would be very uncomfortable.
That is until they try it.
The mens thong has always been a favourite with bodybuilders, male ballet dancers and strippers, and there’s a couple of reasons why.
For the strippers and bodybuilders it’s all about looking as good as you possibly – something the contoured pouch of a mens thong can guarantee.
For the ballet dancer it’s all about the support, and thanks again to the secure, close fitting pouch of a thong, this is one of the most supportive styles on the market, which is why you’ll find most sportsmen wearing one underwear their shorts.
Being sporty though isn’t the only reason why a mens thong is a good option.
If you’re someone who likes to wear tight fitting clothes but always end up with lines and bulges from where your undies have bunched up, you need to be wearing a thong, as the narrow fabric that runs from front to back means there’ll be none of that bunching up, and just a fine fine butt to stare at instead.
What Mens Thongs Should You Buy?
With any underwear my advice is if you can afford to spend a little bit more on your underwear than the standard supermarket undies do, and with a men’s thong I think this rule is even more important, and the reason why is all down to comfort.
The mens thong is probably the closest fitting piece of underwear, besides a jockstrap, that you’re ever going to wear. Think about in the Summer when you’ve worn your briefs and you’ve got hot and sweaty. It’s been uncomfortable down there hasn’t it.
Well think about how much worse it will be if you’ve got a cheap fabric going right up your butt crack and clinging onto your bits. It’s not going to be a pleasant day of thong wearing I can promise you that…
So what kind of thing should you go for?
Well it’s depends on what kind of look you’re going for. If you want to wear a thong merely to get a clean line under your clothes that’s going to keep you feeling cool even in hot weather, then the HOM Plume string has to be the thong for you.
Designed from a fabric that is so light it feels like it’s barely there, the HOM Plume string is the only thing you’ll be wanting to wear on hot Summer days because not only will it stop any underwear showing through those figure hugging shorts of yours but it will also make sure your bits are staying nice and cool too!
But what if you’re not just looking for good old sensible thongs – what if you want something about more exotic to surprise your other half with?
Well then you’re going to be spoilt for choice, as these days there really is a mens thong for every occasion, whether it be the rather raunchy Gregg Homme Mystere Tanga Thong, made from a fabric covered in tiny dots to give a reptilalian effect, and designed with a specially shaped pouch:
The Joe Synder Bulge 02 Enhancement Thong, that is bound to get you more than a few admiring looks for it’s enhancing qualities even through jeans.
Or if you want to go down the really hot underwear route then it’s got to be the MANstore Tactic Tarzan Strap. Unlikely to give the support that the others do, this one is most certainly going to get you all the attention you wanted, but personally I wouldn’t recommend stripping down to it in anywhere apart from your own bedroom…. that is unless you’re in a very liberal place..
