The Secret To Choosing The Right Bra Type For You

Posted: Author: Underwear Queen Topics: Womens Undies

I posted last week about how to make sure you’re wearing the correct fitting bra so we should all be in the position of knowing the exact size that we need.

However you’ve probably now come unstuck at the next hurdle – what style of bra you should buy.

Well fear not. This post is here to give you a foot up and lift over that hurdle.

There are four different types of bra on the market and these are:

  1. The Underwired Bra
  2. The Padded Bra
  3. The Push Up Bra
  4. The Soft Cup Bra

1. The Soft Cup Bra

The soft cup bra is the most basic of all bras with no underwiring or padding.

This means that the soft cup bra is often the most comfortable. However it doesn’t do anything to support or enhance you and I wouldn’t really recommend it if you’re above a B cup.

An example of a soft cup bra would be the Sloggi F bra from Figleaves.

2. The Underwired Bra

An underwired bra is basically a bra that has underwiring at the base of each bra cup. This is the bra for you if you want to give your boobs additional support and a bit of a lift.

You should however be aware that this is quite a generic style and that cups can defer with some being soft, others padded and others moulded.

An example of an underwired bra would be the Cotton Lace T-Shirt Bra from La Senza

3. The Padded Bra

A padded bra is a bra that has some form of moulding or padding to the cups. As you can guess from the name this will pad out your bust giving it an enhanced look.

You should only really consider a padded bra if your bra size is less than a D / DD cup.

An example of a padded bra would be the Freya Retro Padded Bra from Figleaves or the Cherry Satin Bra from La Senza.

4. The Push Up Bra

The push up bra is the next step up from the padded bra offering your boobs a boost via underwiring and padding. These bras can make a real difference and are definitely going to get you feeling extra sexy.

Again you should only consider a push up bra if you’re a D/ DD cup or less. Why? Because if you have a larger cup size you’re lucky enough to have that boost naturally!

An example of this would be the Black Dot Push Up bra from BeCheeky or Pour Moi Taihti Push Up bra from Figleaves.

You should be able to find all of these styles in good high street stores but if you want a bigger selection to choose from I’d recommend checking out Figleaves, BeCheeky and La Senza.
